In this special edition, Bear drops himself in the treacherous, sub-zero climates of the Arctic and Alaska followed by a quick thaw in Alabama and Vietnam. 5 out of 5 stars Love Bear...   July 20, 2010

Great for entertainment. I would probably rather die than do most of the stuff he does...

4 out of 5 stars Man vs Wild = Excellent   March 4, 2010
R. Goodman (Ventura, CA)
Baer goes around in the natural environment and shows you how to survive in that element. He also shows you worst case situations. Is it fake? no. Is it 100 % real? no. It isn't shown in real time, meaning 1hr of being in the wild = 1hr of show. So of course they edit. The producers also assist with the survival options placed in his path to show you what to do if you run into such circumstances; dead sheep used for shelter, pre plotted caves for shelter, dead animals used for food, etc. The show is using a storyline to assist you the person in those situations, not Baer in his 'pure' situation. Meaning to say, they illustrate you more options than you may run into so you can have a greater knowledge base to make decisions that will save your life- OHH YEAH, and the show is entertaining as hell. People, please relax. It's not a con, it's cool.

4 out of 5 stars A Demonstration of Extreme Survival   January 27, 2010
John Murray
After ordering and watching the first 3 seasons of Man vs: Wild I have to say that I was in awe after watching the first 2 seasons and when watching the third, I finally came to the conclusion that Bear Grills is a mountain climber, military survival expert and adventurer way before he is a common Joe lost in the wilderness.

Although many of the techniques he uses are extreme and you would never think about doing such things in a normal survival situation, he does demonstrate what extreme measures can be taken to survive if need be, although he does not state this anytime during the 3 seasons that I watched.

Let's take for instance in season 3 when he was in the jungle and vertically climbed up the side of a limestone cliff by using a bunch of vines in which he stated that he had no idea where the vines stop (in other words if they go to the top). To me that is hard to believe although he may have survived if he was stranded by jumping into the water underneath. Although one would not take such risks 98% of the time, Bear does show it is possible to do if needed. If you were being attacked by a predator(s)or in risk of drowning, this exhibition shows it is possible to do.

Bear's adventurous side comes in frequently when he toys with the animals, from alligators to tarantulas. Although one, in a survival situation, would never do such a thing (unless they were starved), Bear does show the risks you could take if you had to, in regards to varies species.

I caught an episode of season 4 on the Discovery Channel in which Bear pole vaulted across to an adjoining cliff. Although you would never do this 98% of the time in a "regular" survival situation, Bear does show it is possible in extreme circumstances.

In conclusion, although you may not use 50% of the techniques that Bear demonstrates on the show, you will know that the other 50% are possible in extreme circumstances. Bear and the production crew should state this on every program.

5 out of 5 stars whhrrroooaahh!!! as bear would say (while leaping from a sea plane) lol means it's good!   January 25, 2010

And i totally agree.
I ordered mine today.seasons 1 and 2.

I love this show it's very entertaining and Bear has a wonderful energy which teamed up with the beautiful out doors locations makes for a treat for me.

He has also made it to the summit of everest which if you know anything about extreme adventuring is no easy feat.So he deserves the respect.

5 stars from me!

whhroooooaahhh!!!!
