Constructed with 3,000 BTU output, the catalytic heater with platinum technology provides flameless heat from a pressure-regulated propane fuel system that produces a steady fuel stream, even in cold weather, at high altitudes, or when fuel is low. The starting mechanism is a fast-acting piezoelectric sparker that ignites the propane in the presence of atmospheric O2. Easy to operate, you simply screw a 16.4-ounce propane cylinder on the back, turn the knob to "on" for a few seconds, and hit the ignition switch. Camped at five thousand feet and nights were cold. Wife complained the first night, so the second I fired up the ProCat heater for her. We were in a 12'x13' tent with outside temp around 40F. One tank of fuel lasted from 10:30 pm until around 5:00 am. Wife said that she slept way better because she felt warm all night. The built in fan works great. No fumes either. Great product and priced right through Amazon. Thanks

This is an excellent product. I would give it 5 stars except after talking to the Coleman folks I found out it can not be hooked up to a 20 pount tank because the presure is too hi. However, this little thing puts out great heat.

This is a good heater that will keep a large area comfortable.
The only problem is it uses a lot of fuel when it is working hard.
I you can connect to a larger source and do it safely it should get you through the night otherwise expect to have to refuel it during a nights sleep.

I ordered this from Amazon. When it arrived, the fan motor never worked, and the heater actually looked like it had been used or at least unpackaged. My guess is that it was returned as defective already, and then shipped to me by mistake. I wound up returning it and buying another one at a camping store at considerably more expense. I am quite happy with the heater - it's perfect for a larger, family - size tent.

I did months of research and found this to be the best product around. IT not only has a great BTU rating, but a fan that can work off of batteries or adapter (not included, oh well). I compared this to others costing twice as much, and it blew away the competition.
